Pastor's Reflection 2024-05-23

Going through a transition is an important part of any person’s growth and evolution. Transitions help us grow. The same is true for churches.
At Wesley there are two transitions happening during the month of June. First, the sale of the parsonage and the acquisition of a new parsonage will happen in June. As we speak the current parsonage is on the market. Wayne Haraguchi, our realtor, is hopeful the current parsonage will sell this week. And today, as I write this reflection, we are checking out the Mineta House to see what repairs and improvement will need to be made. It is a beautiful house, and it will help Wesley grow it’s presence in community. The new parsonage will also support the church’s mission and community activities more effectively.
Secretary Norman Mineta once said, “Each of us has a role to play in the destiny of this nation.” His quote resonates deeply as we embark on this transition. It reminds me that change is a collective journey, and each member of our church community will play a vital role in shaping our future. As we move into this new space, we will also carry with us the spirit of service and dedication that Secretary Mineta embodied.
The other transition that Wesley is going through during the month of June, is the completion of our rebranding process. On June 30 at 11:30- 12:30 we will gather once more for a Town Hall Meeting in the chapel. The focus will be the conclusion of our rebranding process. Our rebranding process has honored the past, embraced the present, and has looked forward to a future filled with possibilities. The rebranding process has also represented our commitment to renewal, growth, and deeper connection with our community.
Through our rebranding process and the new parsonage, we will continue to trust that God is leading us into a vibrant new chapter. And may we continue to be inspired by Secretary Mineta and serve the community with his same dedication and vision.
