Compassion Ministry

The Compassion Ministry is a community development project to connect with people living in the communities of Japantown and San Jose and to build the community together through love and the justice of God. Despite the pandemic, we are operating several community projects. The core team provides focus and guidance for the mission and ministry of the Compassion Ministry. Please join our team and build a better community.

Compassion Cooking Teams

Come join a compassion cooking team where we prepare a meal for the volunteers and guests at Casa de Clara, a place in our neighborhood that provides transitional housing.  It is a fun opportunity to help those in need. If interested please contact the church office.

Unload Delivery from Second Harvest

Fridays 9:45am-11:00am: 3 people needed to unload Second Harvest delivery of food

Unhoused Ministry

With a bag of food items in easy open cans and packages, Wesley volunteers are visiting our unhoused friends in places like St. James Park on Tuesdays. Our kitchen volunteers are preparing a warm snack like a chili dog to include as well. Our team meets at 11:00 am Tuesdays as our Food Distribution is closing to load up cars with food and volunteers to drive to our destination. If you are interested, please contact the church office at office@wesleysj.net

Grant Elementary School tutoring

Wesley Compassion is excited to resume its after school tutoring program at our neighborhood school Grant Elementary (Jackson & 10 Streets). Volunteers would help a student one on one an afternoon a week. This is a wonderful opportunity to mentor an at-risk student and make a difference in the life of a child. Volunteers must be Safe Gatherings (our background check) approved through Wesley. Interested? Please contact the church office through the form below or email office@wesleysj.net
