Open Mic Nite a hit
The microphone was ready on the stage of the Wesley Chapel. Who would step up to the open mic? What would they do? That was the question being asked on Saturday, March 22. Jayden sang his favorite song from a video game. Judy did a karaoke version of "Buttons and Bows". Jim covered the Eric Clapton classic "Wonderful Tonight". Missy told a story about her dating adventures. Vickie told a story about wanting to go to "camp". Jim and Tracy gave us their best version of Sonny and Cher's "I Got You, Babe". Coffee and soda, cookies, fun and friendship were all part of our first Open Mic Nite. Curious? Want to perform? Come to the next Open Mic Nite, Saturday, April 12 at 7:30 pm. Admission is free. Emceed by actor, singer, comic, and Wesley staff member, Mark Teagle was the host with the most, shown here telling a story of an ill-begotten sailer using his paperfolding expertise and below singing a song he wrote entitled "Aloha Shalom ." The evening was full of humor and fun.

Jim Mar soloed an Eric Clapton number with cool picking and vocals.

In costume, Teri Koike sang and moved to a 1948 Bob Hope Classic karaoke style called "Buttons and Bows." A kazoo was also involved.

Misao Kusuda talked story of her growing up in Wisconsin. "Wisconsin is known for its cheese, beer and white boys."

With a little persuasion, Tracy and Jim broke out in a Sonny and Cher tune "I Got You Babe!"

The event concluded with San Jose J-town community leader, Vickie Taketa, telling a "camp" story. It was an entertaining evening with performers from our church and neighborhood hanging out together and having a great time.
