Ash Wednesday

On March 5, during a solemn service marking the beginning of Jesus' walk to the cross, Rev. John imposes the ashes on all present during our Ash Wednesday Service, noting that, this act "reminds us that life is short...that we need to turn our focus to God and let go of our worries, anxieties, fears, need to control, and resentments"
The theme of this Lenten season is "Living Lightly, letting go and Letting God in. "Let's make room for God and more God encounters," Rev. John stated. "As we wear these ashes let it be a reminder not only of our mortality and our commitment to walk more closely with God, but release all those things that weigh us down as we embrace the spirit of trust and live in a way that reflect the deep abiding love of God and live more lightly."
