Annual Charge Conference Held

If you want to know who runs the church, how the pastor gets compensated, who leads, what are our various ministries, and what went on all last year, this is the meeting to attend. Our church’s annual Charge Conference was held on Nov. 25, with the election of Pam Urauchi as the Charge Conference Recording Secretary, District Superintendent Samuel Hong, presiding and Rev. John Oda, the subject of our annual discussion of the pastor’s compensation package. He’s also in charge of the health of our church’s membership.
Mark Teagle gave an update on his Candidacy for Ministry as a Deacon and the progress he’s made this year in classes taken, work done, and meetings held as a ministry candidate. Of course we approved his moving forward.
Aton Abril provided information on why we are recommending him for being a Certified Lay Leader.
Dave Brown, the new chair of The Board of Trustees, who will be taking over the maintenance of the newly finished garden project (see article on the ribbon-cutting ceremony).  He also took a little time talking about the parsonage rebuild in converting and updating the Mineta homestead across the street from the church, into a modernized livable space for our pastor.
