A Big R.A.H. Thank You

The adage, "It Takes All Kinds" proved to be true under the light of compassion.
On Saturday, November 9 approximately sixty-five faithful volunteers packed 10,100 meals destined for areas of starvation and suffering. Doing good made the day seem special. Jesus said doing good with others made it blessed.
Rise Against Hunger is a nondenominational world-wide hunger relief agency that relies solely on community organizations such a civic groups, businesses, and churches.
Everyone had an important part to play and still it was fun. To start, some volunteers added ingredients of rice, barley, vitamins, and vegetables to an empty pouch.  These packs then went to a weigh station making sure each weighed 3 oz.  After the bags were sealed, they were counted and boxed and sealed again ready for shipment.  The receiving families would simply add boiling water and local ingredients. And presto, dinner for six is served.   At intervals of 1,000 packed meals, a volunteer helped celebrate the milestone by hitting a large loud gong. Our own "Gong Show". Space does not permit listing everyone who made the day possible.
A Special Thank you to ten first comers. The Roberto Hernandez and Lillian family (Trinity, Davina, and Autumn) and Ubaldo Meza. The youth were represented by Anna and Jeffrey Holt with mom Sarah. Marian Suhama, Caroline and Glen Kurimoto, and Jeanne Nakano from the Sangha Betsuin. And finally from our Nichigo Ministry, Akiko Buchanan and Kazuko Hughes. For hundreds of families from Africa to Asia, there was food and gratitude
