Aki Matsuri Entertainers take the stage
Many thanks to all those who made the wonderful entertainment at Aki Matsuri possible. First our set up crew who spent Friday morning setting up the canopies and chairs to be ready for Saturday. Then Saturday we had a group that set up the sound system with Dave Brown serving as lead technician. Then came the solid four hours of excellent entertainment from our community. First to take the stage was the Chidori Band who played a great selection of Japanese standards and featured a wonderful set of guest singers. Then the Wesley Ukulele Band performed. They started with their future stars playing the song "Lava" to the delight of the crowd. Then came a set of Hawaiian favorites many featuring hula dancers as well. Wesley's own Jazz Ensemble took the stage with their full sound and featured soloists like Shizuko Adachi, Wendy Horikoshi, plus Dave Land and Mark Teagle reprising their roles as the Blues Brothers. We welcomed COSMO Silicon Valley Community Chorus who performed their tight harmonies with lots of energy and enthusiasm. And our final act was San Jose Taiko who once again wowed the audience with their amazing percussion ensemble. Thanks to Aki Entertainment Chair Mark Teagle for putting the whole show together.
