Wesley serving our neighbors
Here are some ways that Wesley is opening its doors (and parking lots) to our Japantown neighbors.
On the first and third Thursdays of the month, Yu-Ai Kai's Brown Bag food program uses our Food Distribution Tables and parking area to distribute food to seniors in our neighborhood. This program was relocated here due to the construction at the Buddhist Church.
San Jose Nikkei Resisters and the Neighbors Not Enemies Coalition hold their regular meetings at Wesley.
On June 19 and 20, the Japanese American Museum of San Jose (JAMsj) and Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS) held a staged reading of Philip Kan Gotanda's play "The Sisters Morimoto" at the Museum. Wesley provided the parking for this event.
Wesley regularly provides meeting space for other Japantown community groups. We are also helping with storage space for the upcoming Obon Festival for the Buddhist Church. More examples of Wesley living up to its motto: "Love God, Love One Another."
