日語ミニストリー Nichigo Ministry 12-18-2025
12月13日（土）は恒例の「クリスマス賛美の集い」でした。遠くはフレスノのUJCC、エルセリトのシカモア組合教会、アラメダのブエナ・ビスタ UMC、そして近くはPeninsula Bible Church、更にウェスレーも含めて5つの教会から合計41名が参加し、皆で主の降誕をお祝いしました。
プログラムはオダ先生の開会祈祷で始め、午前中がクリスマス讃美歌。夫々の曲について有志が解説し、次いで足立静子さんが歌い方の指導、そしてブキャナン明子さんのオルガンに合わせて全部で8曲を歌いました。
昼食は昨年に引き続き、「くしなり」の焼き鳥弁当。朝早くから岡野健さん、薫さん、そしてコリンズ道子さんが炭火をおこして焼き上げた逸品です。少し余分があったのですが、それも瞬く間に引き取られてしまうほどでした。
午後はゴードン明子さんのご主人のジェフさんが率いるバグパイプのトリオのライブ演奏。大きなバグパイプに大太鼓、小太鼓が軽やかなリズムを添え、素晴らしいコンサートとなりました。演奏後も聴衆から多くの質問があがり、バグパイプやスコットランドの歴史、また楽曲の構成やバンドの活動など、多くの学びを得ることが出来ました。
またこの季節にはベイエリアの一麦会の主催でアドベント聖書研究会を開いています。最終回は12月18日（木）。新たに参加ご希望の方はコリンズ道子姉（kimuchan2@gmail.com）にご連絡ください。そして毎週土曜日早朝の早天祈祷会・聖書研究会では、12月20日（土）から「エフェソの信徒への手紙」を学び始めます。お問い合わせは塚本旨兄（mimune@tsukamoto.us）までお願いします。なお、12月28日は日語礼拝ではなく、英語部の礼拝に出席します。ご注意ください。

Saturday, December 13th was our annual Christmas Hymn Gathering. A total of 41 participants gathered from five churches: UJCC in Fresno, Sycamore Congregational Church in El Cerrito, Buena Vista UMC in Alameda, Peninsula Bible Church in Cupertino, and Wesley. Together, we celebrated the Lord's birth.
The program began with an opening prayer by Pastor Oda, followed by Christmas hymns throughout the morning. Volunteers provided background story for each hymn, after which Ms. Shizuko Adachi gave singing instruction. We then sang a total of eight hymns accompanied by Ms. Akiko Buchanan on the organ.
For lunch, we had yakitori bento boxes from Kushinari again this year. Ken and Kaori Okano, and Michiko Collins started the charcoal fire early in the morning and grilled exquisite dishes. There were some extra bento boxes for sale, but they were gone in the blink of an eye.
In the afternoon, we enjoyed a live performance by a bagpipe trio led by Mr. Jeff Gordon, the husband of Akiko Gordon. A big bagpipe, accompanied by the light rhythms of large and small drums, made for a wonderful concert. After the performance, the audience asked many questions, and we learned a lot about bagpipes, Scottish history, the composition of the music, and the band's activities.
Also during this season, the Bay Area Hitomuhi-Kai is hosting a series of Advent Bible studies. The final session will be held on Thursday, December 18. If you would like to join, please contact Michiko Collins (kimuchan2@gmail.com). At the early morning prayer meeting and Bible study on Saturdays, we will begin studying the Epistle to the Ephesians on December 20. For inquiries, please contact Mimune Tsukamoto (mimune@tsukamoto.us). Also, please note that on December 28, we will attend the English service instead of the Japanese service.
