Youth Ministry

Wesley Youth Ministry
I am grateful for the opportunity and gift of leading Wesley Youth Ministry.  It has been a busy start to the 25-26 school year for Youth Ministry.  We began the year with Rally Sunday on August 17, 2025.

The goals that have been set for the Wesley Youth Ministry program for the 2025-2026 school year are:
  1. Youth attending a whole worship service once a month with the opportunity to participate in service ministries (greeting, ushering, music, call to worship, prayers)
  2. Center curriculum around Sunday scripture that is spoken about at worship service
  3. Youth participate in service activities at Wesley
  4. Plan and implement 1 social activity per month

In August, we started the school year off with Rally Sunday on August 17th.  We then put focus on Psalm139.

September began with the Back to School Picnic at Willow Street Frank Bramhall Park.  We then did activities that centered on the following passages, John 10:14-18, Jeremiah 8:18-9:1, as well as our church motto Ai Shin Ai Rin.  We had a social event at Costco, where we replenished our snacks and had a pizza dinner.

October started off a busy time of year at church and away from church.  In the beginning of the month, we had activities centered around passages that focused on helping and asking for help in Psalms and Luke 18:1-8.  We had a social event that included a trip to a Pumpkin Patch, then activities back at Wesley, such as painting pumpkins, filling treat bags for God’s Garden Trick or Treating and Trunk and Treat, as well as decorating the education building for Halloween festivities.

In November, we were planning the busyness of the upcoming holiday season, while still centering activities on gratitude and passages, such as 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5, 13-17, Philippians 4:11-13, Luke 21:25-36.  The social event for November is a movie night, which the youth will be viewing Zootopia 2.

For December, there are many activities keeping the youth involved and busy.  They will participate in Hanging of the Greens, an annual Wesley event.  We will be doing activities centered around the season of Advent.  They will be participating with God’s Garden in the service on the 3rd Sunday of Advent as greeters and acolytes, but will also be wrapping gifts for the Grant School Gift Drive.  The NJAUMC Camping Board will have a winter lock-in at Wesley inviting other churches, Aldersgate, Buena Vista, and UJCC, to participate in worship, games, fellowship, and community.  The youth finish December off with Mochizuki, another Wesley Tradition.
