Family and Children’s Ministry

The annual Trunk N Treats outreach community event has been in our 5th St. Parking Lot since the second year of Rev. Keith Inouye’s tenure beginning in 2010 at Wesley and established through the then Good News Committee. It’s been run with the continuous lead of Barbara Hiura and post COVID, co-chaired by Kelli Martines.
This year, we had 10 cars and 26 participants. We also expanded to include the San Jose State University Car Club chaired by Jake Shimada. They also had 10 cars and around10 participants. This was quite the community outreach for all of us as we guesstimated around 900 plus children and families in the cutest and adorable costumes visiting our lot. On the 5th St. site, we ran out of all our toys and almost all of our candy. We had to close our gate just the end-time. This is quite an awesome outreach our church does in the Japantown community
