Kids Camp 2025 was filled with fun activities, laughter, new and old friendships, singing and dancing. This year’s theme was “Road Trip: On the Road With God”. The scripture for the week was “The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9. We had 42 elementary school children (1st-5th) and 21 middle schoolers/Tween (6th-8th) who registered for Kids Camp. There were 5 Kids Camp co-directors: Sarah Holt, Christine Ozawa, Kellie Nunokawa, Vanessa Perry-Mar, and Jayne Williams. In addition to the co-directors, we had 35 volunteers helping out during the week from youth assistants to teachers to set-up. Kids Camp wouldn’t happen without the support of all these amazing volunteers.
Each day was filled with fun activities and field trips. The elementary school campers went through activity rotations: Culinary Creations, Mission, Science and Crafts. The Tweens rotated through Cooking, Science, Missions, Crafts and Board Games. For field trips, all the campers went to Vasona park where we had a picnic lunch. Some campers rode the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad train while others did a scavenger hunt. Elementary school campers went to the Tech Museum and 4th Street Bowl. While the Tweens visited the Google campus and got a tour from Jeffrey Oldham and Kellie Nunokawa. They also went on a tour of San Jose State University. Toward the end of the week, they had to work together to make it out of an escape room.
