日語ミニストリー Nichigo Ministry 2025-09-25
7月のこのニュースレターで、TNKについてお話ししました。旧約聖書をT（トーラー）の律法の書、N（ネビィム）の預言書、K（ケトゥビム）の諸書に分けるユダヤ教での伝統的な考え方です。この中で私たちに最も身近なのは、Tでしょう。旧約聖書の冒頭にある創世記、出エジプト記、レビ記、民数記、申命記を指し、「モーセ五書」とも呼ばれています。
「創世記」は天地創造とエデンの園の二つの伝承が含まれ、アダムとイブ、カインとアベル、ノアの洪水、バベルの塔、そしてアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブ、ヨセフと言った登場人物が劇的な歴史を綴ります。
「出エジプト記」はモーセによるエジプト脱出の物語。Charleton Heston主演の「十戒」の映画でも有名です。紅海が二つに割れたり、シナイ山でモーセが十戒の石碑を授かるなど、まさに壮大なアクション・ドラマです。
「レビ記」は日常の戒律を事細かに規定します。神殿への供え物、清いものと不浄なもの、そして共同体としての法律などの規定が書かれてあり、ユダヤ教の律法の中核をなします。
「民数記」はその名の通り、人口調査の記録から始まり、モーセとアロンが率いるユダヤの民が「約束の土地」を求めて40年間荒野を彷徨った歴史が描かれています。
「申命記」は神とユダヤの民との間に交わされた契約を確認し、この書の最後でモーセは自らが入る事の出来なかった「約束の地」を遠くから眺め、天に召されます。
この「約束の地」が今のイスラエルとパレスチナです。現在のイスラエル・ガザ戦争は政治的な対立ですが、宗教的な紛争がその根底にあるのは明白です。こうした中で、私たちはキリスト者として、この戦争をどのように捉えるのか、今一度自分に問うてみる必要があるでしょう。

In the July Newsletter, we discussed TNK. This is the traditional Jewish division of the Old Testament into the Torah (T), the Prophets (Nevi'im), and the Writings (Ketuvim). Among these, the Torah is likely the most familiar to us. It refers to the opening books of the Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, also known as the “Five Books of Moses.”
Genesis contains two traditions: the creation of heaven and earth and the Garden of Eden. It chronicles the dramatic history of figures like Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, the Flood of Noah, the Tower of Babel, and Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph.
Exodus recounts Moses' leadership in the Exodus from Egypt. It is famously depicted in the film The Ten Commandments starring Charlton Heston. It is a truly epic action drama, featuring the parting of the Red Sea and Moses receiving the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai.
Leviticus meticulously details the laws governing daily life. It contains regulations concerning temple offerings, clean and unclean things, and laws for the community, forming the core of Jewish law.
As its name suggests, the Book of Numbers begins with a census record and describes the history of the Jewish people, led by Moses and Aaron, wandering in the wilderness for 40 years in search of the “Promised Land.”
Deuteronomy reaffirms the covenant between God and the Jewish people. At the end of this book, Moses gazes from afar at the “Promised Land” which he himself could not enter.
This “Promised Land” is present-day Israel and Palestine. While the current Israel-Gaza war is a political conflict, it is clear that religious strife lies at its root. In this context, we as Christians must ask ourselves once again how we should view this war.

• The September 18th (Thursday) Hitomugi-Kai Bible Study, led by Pastor Kuwahara, covered Psalms 43 and 44. The next session will be on October 2nd (Thursday) at 7:30 PM.
• The Saffron-Kai will start a new season on Friday, September 26th after summer break. We will gather in the social hall for a potluck and crafts.
• The Bay Area Nichigo congregations’ joint retreat will be held on Saturday, October 18th at Arlington Park in El Cerrito. Wesley Nichigo plans to charter a bus. For details, please contact Mimune Tsukamoto (mimune@tsukamoto.us).
• Gihon's Spring check-in will be held at the following link every Friday at 4:00 PM:
