Japanese Americans Remember Our Veterans of War

Rev. John Oda and Rev. Gerald Sakamoto, Rinban of the San Jose Buddhist Church (soon to be retired) gave messages at the annual Japanese American interfaith n Memorial Day Service at Oak Hill Memorial Park on May 31.

Wesley's presence was noted where around 100 people were in attendance. Here are from left: Richard Poczulp, Keana, Leila, and Roger Saito.

The presentation of colors was performed by Scout Troop 201 from Wesley and Scout Troop 611 from the San Jose Buddhist Church


Kelli Martines representing the Nikkei Matsuri (above) and Warren Hayashi representing Wesley (below), presented a flower offering of remembrance.


Rev. John Oda gave opening remarks reflecting on his uncle who died in the war and thoughts on what it would've been like had he survived and the relationship he could've had but was denied at his early passing.

Ted Hasegawa played "Taps" as the color guard retired the flag at the end of the service.
